We live in a world saturated with written language. Sometimes we need to slow reading and writing down and to edit language to its essentials. The written word is often provisional; that which it represents is absent, elsewhere, deferred in space and time. I see most of the surfaces I work on as forms of pages, and am constantly trying to create a 'perfect text.' What this may look like shifts from time to time.

Since 2020 I have been working in collaboration with the painter Lindsay Simons on a project inspired by the ancient sibyls, taking initial inspiration from Virgil's Aeneid and Ovid's Metamorphoses and reframing female scientists as modern age sibyls. Lindsay and I have also produced 'Modern Sibyl' diptychs from sittings and interviews with contemporary women.
